
DIY 3D Mermaid Birthday Card with Free Silhouette Studio Cutting File

Free 3D Mermaid Card Cutting Files (Download here)

Silhouette Cameo cutting machine

Paper Cutz 300gsm Gloss (for the print and cut layer)

Paper Cutz Specialist Finish Cardstock (metallic, holographic, glitter)

5" x 7" Printable Card Blanks from Paper Cutz

Glue stick

Double-sided foam tape
Step 1: Download the Free Cutting Files
Get started by downloading the free personal use cutting files from HERE. The download includes three essential files:

Print and Cut Layer

Embellishment Elements
-
Outer Card
Step 2: Print the Design on Gloss Cardstock

Open the Print and Cut Layer file in Silhouette Studio.

Ensure registration marks are turned on – this is essential for accurate cutting.

Load Paper Cutz 300gsm Gloss into your printer.

Adjust print settings to:

Paper Size: A4
-
Print Quality: High
-
Paper Type: Gloss
-

Print your design and set it aside to dry.
Step 3: Cut the Printed Layer

Place the printed sheet on your Silhouette mat.

In Silhouette Studio, select the Glitter Cardstock setting.

Load the mat into your Silhouette Cameo and cut the printed design.
Step 4: Cut the Specialist Cardstock Embellishments

Open the Embellishment Elements file in Silhouette Studio.

Choose your favorite Paper Cutz Specialist Finish Cardstock (metallic, glitter, or holographic).

Ensure your cut settings are still set to Glitter Cardstock.

Load the cardstock onto the Silhouette mat and cut the embellishments.
- Use different colours and finishes to create the perfect design
Step 5: Print the Outer Card Base

Open the Outer Card file in Silhouette Studio.

Load a 5" x 7" Printable Card Blank from Paper Cutz into your printer.

Update your print settings to:

Paper Size: 7" wide x 10" high

Print Quality: High
-
Paper Type: Matte Cardstock

Print the card base and fold it in half to create the card.
Step 6: Assemble the Card Layers

Use a glue stick to attach the specialist cardstock embellishments to the corresponding print and cut elements.
Step 7: Build Your 3D Mermaid Card with Foam Tape
Create beautiful depth by layering your design using double-sided foam tape in this order:

Shell (base layer)
-
Mermaid Tail
-
Coral
-
Waves
-
Happy Birthday sentiment
For extra dimension, place the bubbles and turtle on top of the other layers. You can add more height by stacking additional foam tape layers.
